Fresh from the Wasteland that is r/EDM comes this legendary post:

Which EDM artists had promising careers, but ultimately failed to take off?

This is a very timely question since there have been so many artists coming and going from the COVID time. (That was 5 years ago btw)

Here are some of the artists people mentioned:

“G Jones”

“Wolfgang Gartner”

“K?D”

“Adrian Lux”

“Tommy Trash”

As for the reasons.

Its a mix of slow output, “missed opportunities” and the scene changing.

Granted no one will ever be certain about the real reason why. Maybe some just didn’t see a point in doing it full time.

Especially now where you either release 1 trillion songs a year and post in social media daily or fade into obscurity to those that do.

But the admirable part about those artists is that none of them haven’t stopped.

Even if their careers failed to “Take off.”

Each one of these artists have a spot in the hall of fame songs. A lot of them STILL hold up to today’s standards.

Most of their newer stuff is amazing as well. It’s been showcased in this newsletter before.

“Okay that’s cool but what does that have to do with me?” I hear the voices (who act like you, my dear reader) saying.

This is just evidence that you can keep doing things even when people consider you out of the game.

And that people will still be on the lookout for what you are up to. No matter how long it’s been.

As long as you are in the race you want to be you can WIN. It just takes a mix of effort, time, and love of the game.

And most importantly: being honest with yourself.

Are you doing “more” just to have some semblance of progress? Even when it means being in the wrong race?

Or are you doing the things that get you closer to what you want?

Ponder that over today’s song.

It’s one of my favorites tracks from an artist we haven’t showcased as much.

Adrian Lux.

Even though it’s about to reach it’s 12th year in a couple months it still stands tall to today’s onslaught of slop.

It’s a highlight of the old golden era back in 2012-2014. Frankly you could release it in today’s Golden Era and it would go hard (next to some John Summit or whoever)

The sound itself is full of passion and energy. The melody will get stuck in your head and give you the strength to keep going.

Play it as much as you need. It can be on repeat for hours and the drop will still hit the same.

Njoy.

Genre: Hopium Nostalgiabait (Whatever the hell that means)

Always Forward

Hz

P.S. Something tells me that all of those artists listed have big things in the works. That’s the beautiful things about this genre. Anyone can make a comeback as long as the music if MF GOOD.
