The BEST things about Japan.

Last one is the most underrated one.

Following yesterday’s email, today is actually about the GOOD stuff which there is plenty.

And just like yesterday, you’re getting the song first!

Now because we’re talking about Best things today, what better way than to give you the BEST songs (like everyday, of course)

This one is by none other than Aether and Ekcle. Two absolute heavy weights in the melody and downtempo realms.

This song is nothing short of MAGICAL. The feeling of beauty it causes is unmatched. One of the best things I’ve heard - EVER.

Of course, my word means nothing so you’re better off listening to it and hearing for yourself.

Njoy

Genre: Future Beats

On to the list.

Trains

By far the BEST part about Japan. It’s probably the best planned thing out of all their systems which is quite the achievement.

Hz Recommends: Go on as many trains as possible, we saw at least 3 different types of trains.

Food

Affordable, fresh, and plenty.

Nowhere else in the world will $10 take you as far as it does in Japan.

Full-course QUALITY meals that you can’t get enough of. An experience like no other.

And the food is so fresh, you can eat a ton of food and not get a food coma.

Hz Recommends: Eat. Consume. Quench the carnal desires. The only limit is your wallet.

CLEAN

From day one, we noticed that there’s virtually NO trash whatsoever.

Of course the only exception was downtown, but it’s just a law of the universe that all downtowns MUST be dirty.

There is so little trash that the dumpster trucks are literally the size of vans. The most unreal thing in the world

Their secret? Making sure you take your trash with you and dump it at home. There’s also little to no things to trash. Plastic bags are an extra charge and paper things like napkins, sneeeze things and more are rare.

Nice people

Now it could be I couldn't communicate with anyone, but so far everyone was kind, patient and understanding.

Of course, most of the interactions were from cashiers, waiters, etc.

Which speaking of, YOU CAN’T TIP IN JAPAN.

Which is insane because the QUALITY of service you get is unmatched.

Everything is planned and compartmentalized

Japan is effective. Everything has it’s own place and space.

The best example are well… the bathrooms.

Instead of having shower and toilet together in a room, well, they’re separate.

Kind of like specialized zones.

And this is shared across all facets of society.

Trains and spaces for women, the elderly, smokers, pregnant women, disabled people, etc.

It's a very humane place and shows how there's a way to figure some things out.

Nature

There's no simpler way to say this than: the views are AMAZING.

Even in the concrete there are hints of green everywhere, making for a picturesque scene wherever you go.

The mountains are always within sight, no matter where you are. It's gorgeous.

Downtowns

Long time readers know my opinions on Downtown areas (aka hell)

Except in Japan there's plenty and they're not THAT bad.

Sure, it's tourist bias, whatever. What I experienced was a walkable, lit up experience that kept Hyperoxia and I in awe of the actually good experience we had.

Vending machines everywhere

This may sound like an extra or exaggerated thing to include.

But when you're constantly under 100° weather, a quick cold water for $0.70 is a Godsend.

The logistics of it must be insane considering there's a vending machine EVERYWHERE you go (even in mountains. Must suck to refill that up, lol)

“But how do they keep it clean? Don't you have to throw away the bottle?”

Yes. There's usually trash cans next to the machines, and when there's not, you're EXPECTED to carry it with you until you find a trash can.

Different world.

Culture

Something Japan does very well is maintain hundred years culture alive.

There's many castles, temples, traditional buildings and more to explore from when warlords and emeperors were the norm.

Sure, a lot have been reconstructed (PLENTY of times) but it's still a gorgeous thing to see the old and the modern come together.

Innovation

In trains, systems, buildings, restaurants, etc, everything has been improved to give the best experience.

It genuinely feels like traveling into the future, a future where things actually function.

By far one of the best things.

Convenience stores

convenience is an understatement, you'll find EVERYTHING, like buccees but on every corner.

The best way to explain it is by telling you: Have you ever gone to a walmart?

Well imagine having one on every corner, minus the huge line.

Silence

I don’t know what makes Japan such a quiet country but the fact is that there really isn’t much noise… ANYWHERE.

Even while walking on the road you barely hear the cars pass by. Another odd experience that really caught me off guard.

There seems to be a lot of intropsecton from the citizens and it’s just a very comforting thing to see.

Now last but not least:

Gambling.

Now I don’t really know how to explain this but…

Japan has a HUGE gambling issue.

I’m talking almost every facet of life has some sort of gambling.

There’s Gacha machines everywhere. Pachinko parlors in every corner, and stores have their dedicated gambling zones.

How is this a positive? I… don’t really know. It’s just fun (when you win)

And that’s it… I think.

Now I was going to give locations but I think I want to milk this a bit more…

Will sleep on it.

Until then, see you tomorrow and thank you for accompanying us in this journey.

Always Forward

Hz

P.S. Yeah to say this is late is an understatement. Forgor to schedule it and I noticed just now so… Thanks for the patience, lol.
