“WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!”
“Huh?” I reply, knowing full well what happened.
My boss stands in front of me horrified.
I was a much different color from when she saw me on Fridee.
“Long or short story?” I reply with a smile.
“Short”
“8 Hours under the sun.” I say as I lift my sleeve to reveal the damage.
“OH MY. WHAT WERE YOU EVEN DOING?” She says while signaling to put my sleeve back down.”
“Visiting a government building. The line was… a bit too long.”
“YOU WERE WHITE AS A GHOST ON FRIDAY! DIDN’T YOU TAKE SUNSCREEN?”
“Well I was expecting it to be a 1 hour ordeal… but the government decided it was going to be an 8 hour one.” I continue “And let’s just say the summer sun was not being too friendly.”
“Wow, you gotta get that taken care of. I’m not sure that sunburn color is… normal.”
I look down and see the glowing red on my arm.
“Probably not but hey, at least it’s kept me warm!”
She laughs and goes back to her office.
I’ll be honest, though; my arm isn’t the only red thing…
My face looks like Donald Trump’s, except it’s radioactive red instead of orange.
And honestly?
IT SUCKS.
It feels like I just walked out of a toaster oven. And it’s been almost 24 hours since the great roasting.
My only consolation is that I get to connect this to today’s song by Droeloe.
It’s a fantastically designed melodic masterpiece. Perfect for this summer which is looking to be INSANELY hot.
