Words have an impressive effect on the mind.
They can dictate behavior and relationships better than most other factors.
One of the most powerful type of words are conditionals.
And what clearer example that the humble “if”
“If x then y can happen”
The unfortunate part is that “If” has a negative connotation.
“If I can stop doing these destructive habits I could be in a better place”
It kinda gives that freedom. That feeling of a third party stopping people from doing the things they want to do.
It’s rarely “If I push hard now I will have more time to enjoy later.”
Or
“If I stop waiting until last minute to write emails maybe I’ll get them out in time” (Still workshopping this one)
Granted, like every word, it has it’s place.
Just make sure it’s not one that keeps you stuck.
Most times the “if” can be turned into “When”
And “when” can be turned into now.
For example…
“If only I could stop eating cookies in bed at 2am watching youtube I would feel better in the morning”
Can be turned into “When I stop eating cookies in bed at 2am watching youtube I’ll feel better in the morning”

“If Hz sends good songs I will listen to these songs” “When Hz sends good songs I will listen to them.
