Welcome to Sunday Chewsday Singles!
Every Sunday Chewsday either Hyperoxia or I will send you a micro-review of a single song.
Yes, it’s been a long time coming. I almost already pushed it another day after falling down the rabbit hole again.
Hobbies truly are amazing but we’re not here to talk about that.
This is a very different song from what we usually send.
Song Info
Title: Chictapi - Simulacra
Release Date: 4/14/25
Genre: Instrumental Score
Runtime: 5:54
Artist Lore
Chictapi is an American’t producer who makes movie scores, experimental electronic and dabbles in electropop (as most artists under 25 do.)
His production is really out there and can take you to different worlds. Of course it’s nothing surprising from a person that wants to compose music for movies. That is pretty much a given.
This is also as underground as it gets. So you already know there’s something special here.
The Great
I love how easy it is to get lost in the sound.
And to get it out of the way: These drums are IMMACULATE.
If I had to explain this song it would be like getting transported to a remote tribal village.
The sounds are wild and out of control.
And even though the drum guy is going crazy, the chorus in the back keeps it at a slow pace. Kind of like a guiding light.
It’s the details in the back give this song so much life. The soft pan flute, the violins that fade in and out, and the sounds that get introduced as the song goes on.
Even though this song only has about 5 sounds there is so much breath and life to it that you can hear it over and over and still find yourself lost in this world.
Very odd experience tbh.
The one gripe with it.
I honestly couldn’t find any. Maybe that it’s not for everyone. If you need a lot of “dancing energy” or “some rythm” this ain’t the song for you. check out the one from yesterday.
Wrappin it up
This is a special song and the first of it’s kind we’ve showcased on this newsletter. I still consider this electronic because it has the speed and production qualities of an electronic music song.
Of course, it’s also teetering the edge of “not electronic.” But unless you’re keeping score it’s not that deep.
Still, it’s a good song to have on the background when you want to imagine yourself in a different place.
I imagine this song while walking in the woods at night brings a different experience altogether.
Unfortunately Florida doens’t have any forests so no can do. If you try it out let me know.
Similar to it
Another slow and amazing score. This is the intro to his Assorted Scores album. I recommend it if you’ve enjoyed the songs from him this far.
