🍱 Delicacy of the Day
Look I gotta end this week with a heavy hitter.
And who other than Canadian Cretin Deadmau5 to close out the “popular week?”
This song has been an instant addiction from when I heard it.
If there’s something Deadmau5 can do VERY (aside from all the composition part) well its midsections.
It gives a breath of fresh air to the song which is, you know…
A SWEET 9 MINUTES AND 48 SECONDS.
Songs that long might be intimidating in the big 26.
However it is rewarding and worth a listen.
You can also do the “radio” edit that cuts it down to like 3 minutes and change but come on now.
Long songs deserve the love and respect of getting listened to without skipping. It can even be an “attention litmus test.”
Might be a silly way to explain but it’s kinda hard to sell Deadmau5 since the music sells itself.
He’s been at it for 25+ years and he STILL has mastery over production, sound design, melodies, and everything in between.
Nuff yappin.
Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel
I have an embarrassing confession.
It took 6 years to fully understand and appreciate House music and Deadmau5 songs.
I entered the genre through Monstercat in 2014, when the biggest export was “Minecraft video intro music.”
Back in the day, it was the best thing in the world. Some of it has actually aged pretty well!
But anything outside of that small sphere of “Monstercat” was shunned. House music? Forget about it. It’s boring elevator music for geezers.
It wasn’t until 2020 that I heard Secret Level by No Mana (who was at the time called “the modern Deadmau5 by some people) that everything finally clicked.
6 years of avoidance and hatred undone by a single 53 minute album.
Then I heard Strobe by Deadmau5 and yeah, it was pretty much over at that point hahaha.
I’ve found that it matches how adoption of technologies go.
Gonna go on a bit of a low IQ rant on “Science” itself. It won't be coherent or music-related.
And I’m not talking about AI, that one has been beaten to death.
Over the past 30 years or so, technology evolution in the biggest areas (health, economics, relationships) has become unrecognizable.
I mean, hell, ask anyone over the age of 40 how life used to be and…
Yeah, you’ll probably get stunlocked in a 3-hour conversation on how things were much better back in the day.
But you’ll learn a lot about how fundamentally different the world is.
For example…
Health? There’s a peptide for that. And if it’s not a peptide, you can install 5 trackers in every body part to get readings.
Finance? You can invest, gamble, and get into infinite BNPL debt in 5 minutes with a single app. Don’t even get me started about buying stuff hahaha.
Relationships? Social media, dating apps, instant messaging.
The biggest complaint I have about this is the rampant “shoot first ask later” implementation.
No, I’m not saying to pause everything until you've thought it all through. Innovation IS a net positive.
But it seems that “innovation” became “exploitation” pretty fast.
A lot of the health stuff brought convenience along with “unexpected side effects.” We will see the consequences of peptides soon enough.
The finance stuff? Yeah. Like giving a 5-year-old an “infinite credit card” in a candy store. This part has gone off the rails the most imo. ESPECIALLY in the gambling side of it.
Relationships? Lol, lmao. Where to even begin with this one…
It’s as if Science went from “how can we make things BETTER” to “how can we make things ADDICTIVE.”
But there is more coming:
Self driving cars
Wearable “AI Assistants” in the form of charms or glasses
Space travel?
Genetically removing seeds from plants so you can sell fruits through subscriptions?
Humanoid robots that do things and aren’t 10 trillion dollars to make?
Of course, a lot of these encourage using LESS humans and more resource extraction. Kinda ironic as without people, how do you run the things people made, like “economies”
No one seems to know the answer!
Now even though I’ve painted a “bleak” picture of scientific progress, I do believe it will get better.
Some things are here to stay, of course, but people will start going back to first principles after realizing that all the “ease” and “convenience” has a higher cost.
And eventually, it won’t be as “profitable” to use all of these exploitation mechanisms.
But until then, do your best to hold your ground on things that you deem go against your values.
Can’t even play the saint here; I’ve fallen for multiple of these (wearables) while staying WELL far away from others (gambling, social media).
It’s going to be pretty tough considering there’s BILLIONS invested into making sure you use all of these things for their profit.
I don’t really have a better way to explain it, so here’s a video that puts this whole ENTIRE mental rant in much better words.
Always trying to understand science Forward
