I used to hate any form of repetition.
Movies? Already saw them once. What’s the point.
Books? Reading once is enough to remember everything.
Courses? Definitely learned everything after watching it all at 2x speed.
I used to think that repetition was a waste of time. The feeling of time fleeting is never a fun one.
But this year I broke the cycle and started revisiting books. (Sorry, movies just aint worth it. Except the Demon Slayer movie, that was fun to rewatch just for the roast.)
And honestly, it’s incredible how much more perspective you get from reading the same book twice.
Memories are flimsy things. It misremembers the past, forgets important things, and retains the embarrassing parts.
Timing is also essential. I’ve made a habit of revisiting this one book every 3 months and I always walk away with a new lesson.
Of course, this effect triples with electronic music.
No other genre on earth has this much repeatability. You can listen to the same song 20 times and still find extra details in the production.
More.
You can hear a song that sounds like doodoo then hear it again 6 months later and develop an addiction to it.
Case in point…
These past couple of weeks have been rough. It’s so bad that I’ve heard the same album on repeat for the last WEEK.
Half the reason is to keep my head in place. The other half is the MASTERWORK production.
I swear, even on my 30th listen (it’s been bad.) I STILL find a new sound or detail that makes me want to hear it again.
The funniest thing is when I heard a song from the album 8 months ago…
I HATED it and passed it off as “boring.”
Unfortunately, this album will remain vaulted for a bit (still going through it).
So instead I’ll resend something better.
Yes, we’ve sent this song before. And frankly it’s SO AMAZING that it deserves a second run.
And what better way to prove the point than with a song by Mount Rushmore artist and British Creature duo Ekcle.
Listening to it as I write this email reveals even more details that I missed the last time.
And even if you can’t find new sounds…
You may be in a different place in life! This song may bring a whole new meaning.
This was also a fan favorite when we sent it last year. This is what a fellow Trash Collector (Name in progress™) said about it:
“Holy moly. What is Eckle? Your email should come with a warning that you’ll feel inadequate having lived for years ignorant of these masterpieces! Could my life have taken a different path if I’d know this music existed? Would I walk with a little more pep, more swagger, more lust for life? It’s possible. I guess I’ll just try pick up the pieces and move forward.” - Adoring fan.
So come get your out of body experience below.
Njoy!
Genre: Something to revisit.
Always Revisiting Forward
Hz
P.S. Take a chance to revisit something today. Wether that be a book or a video that helped but you didn’t really understand. I found that the more you revisit something the better it gets.
