Why the hell does Spotify have videos? What's the purpose of a music app having videos?
And why are they pushed so much? I swear I logged in today to the mobile app and a video started playing.
The most hilarious thing is that it doesn’t have music videos.
Like I can understand podcasts and audiobooks. Sure. That makes sense
BUT FULL ON VIDEOS? Come on man.
I'm noticing more and more apps are trying to be everything.
Music, podcasts, audiobooks, videos, payment processors, blogs, short videos, chat rooms, and crack dispensaries.
Spotify ain’t the only one tho.
Twitter is trying to be “the everything app”. They recently added full-on ARTICLES.
Tiktok enabled shopping and long-form videos in its app.
So on and so forth.
My theory is we're going to see a lot more of these all-in-one apps to get as much of the dwindling online attention as they can.
More and more people are going outside to escape the AI slop onslaught.
You’ll also see a huge resurgence of physical media (discs, vinyl, cassettes).
I think the next big thing for Spotify is communities. They’re testing the waters with chat activation and the wrapped clans bit.
Overall, you will see many internet communities rise again.
Those are just my crystal ball musings.
Nostalgia year is starting to show its fangs.
And some higher voices are predicting this will be the decade of tradition.
Only time will tell if that’s the case.
As for today I want to show you my evidence for nostaliga year.
This is by American’t duo Frost Children.
It’s from an album released late last year (when I started noticing this trend).
This song has 2010s written all over it. While it may not seem like a huge jump, I estimate that a decent percentage of electronic music artists who surged during 2020 draw heavy inspiration from 2010s music.
Its a sentiment thats being shared by the younger (21+) portion of artists coming out with big albums.
The basslines have that signature saw wave. The composition is simple and reminiscent of something you’d hear Avicii make. Hell, I had to do a double take to make sure it didn’t come out in 2014.
If you miss the old electro sound this album will bring you enough dopamine to keep you running for a week.
The energy is IMMACUALTE, raw and above all, fun.
Njoy.
Genre: 2010.
