Hunee - Rare Happiness
There’s this weird contrast exclusive to Gremlin Germans.
They either make the nastiest techno ever or the most peaceful house out there.
Hunee is on the latter side.
I remember playing this while planning the trip and getting lost in the moment.
It’s a perfect track to have on the background while doing work.
The drums are on point and keep the track easy-going.
Might be a bit of a looper song but it works perfectly.
Highly recommended for any “deep work” or "lounge” background song playlists.

💭 Quick Drivel
For the next 36 days I’ll be exploring the extremely ridiculous trip from last year
I didn’t have time to write it when it happened. So why not take advantage of Nostalgia Year to re-live some memories, eh?
If you don’t mind or care (no blame there), enjoy the hand-picked songs that made up this trip a lot more special. They’re even better than the amazing stuff we regularly send.
The good thing about Kyoto is that everything opens later.
Since everything opened at 10 there was some extra time to rest.
Which was fantastic to catch up on some sorely needed sleep.
The plan for today:
Kyoto Railway Museum
This is probably my favorite museum ever.
The only problem with it is that it’s TOO GOOD.
I spent 3 hours on the first of three floors and ran out of time.
No pictures for this one as trains aren’t interesting to 99% of people, lmao.
Toji Temple
This was in the bucket list for a while.
Somehing about it is alluring. Regardless, it’s absolutely beautiful.
Fun fact: Each floor is supposed to embody an element.
So the four floor pagodas are Water, Wind, Earth and Fire.
While the five floor pagodas are the same four elements with “void”
(Yeah, lmao)
So that was a very nice piece of trivia I heard from a random tour guide.
Which btw is a great way to learn without paying the insane private tour fees.
Kanchi In
This was right outside of Toji Temple so I decided to go check it out.
It’s this little… residence thing?
No clue, I just went in and they sold me a ticket.
It was a nice and cozy house, check this out:
Yeah there wasn’t much to see on the inside, lol
Quite serene. Kyoto is frozen in time and little places like these give you a snapshot that temples can’t provide.
Higashi Hongan Ji
I found this on the way to the next destination. It looked cool so I went check it out.
It had this watchtower thing at the top which was quite cool
The amount of details they put on every inch of these temples and shrines is nothing to scoff at.
Definitely a must visit, the architecture is INCREDIBLE.
Kyoto Tower
Say it with me
ANOTHER DAY. ANOTHER TOWER.
This was definitely the smallest of the towers.
It’s also hilariously the tallest building in all of Kyoto.
The sights were nothing to scoff at though…
The one thing that was terrifying was the INSANE amount of spiders all around the tower.
These are huge and all over the window. Thankfully they are outisde.
It wasn’t all bad tho.
I met some Austrian dude who casually pulled out a $3.5k camera and started flexing by taking CLEAR pictures of licence plates from all the way above the tower.
Europeans man, what the hell do they even do except travel and have the most expensive equipment for whatever hobby they have?

Very nice and small tower. 8/10.
Gyukatsu Tokyo
I made a 30 minute line for this.
It was this popular fried wagyu spot.
While making the line I actually stumbled across the Austrian dude again who said it was worth the wait.
And man, let me tell you…
It don’t get better than this!
From here it was the standard 40 minute bus ride home.
Final Thoughts
It was becoming clear that Kyoto had a much slower pace than Tokyo did.
Everything opens later and closes earlier…
Buses end their routes around 10pm unless its an essential route…
And overall the people here seem a lot more relaxed.
The contrast between the two was starting to become clearer.
But that’s enough for today. Tomorrow has a whole lot more adventures.
