After listening to a good chunk of my collection on shuffle I can officially say...

DAMN. IM AMAZING AT THIS TRACK SELECTION THING.

“ERMMMM the algorithms do a good job actually.” Says that one random cretin in the back. (Lets call him Humphrey)

A good job?

I’ve played with recommendations in various apps. 9/10 times it’s a skip. Not that its a bad feature per se…

BUT ITS STUCK IN THINGS I’VE HEARD BEFORE.

Spotify is the only one with a competent recommendation feature that SOMETIMES shows new music.

I don't have an iPhone, so I can't talk about Apple Music. Hyperoxia can confirm its competence.

As for the rest…

DISABLE THAT CRAP. Or dont have high hopes for it.

Go to a casino and try your luck. You’ll likely find better songs in the speakers.

And again, I’m not against recommended as a feature. It’s intelligent. It shows you stuff you’ve heard before because familiarity keeps you in the app.

As for FINDING new things?

It leaves a lot to desire.

In fact, I challenge you to have a recommended algorithm pull up today’s song on your queue.

Maybe now that you play it will show up. But aside from that nothing comes close to having something carefully selected for you.

In this case it’s a gorgeous song by Canadian Cretin Intropal.

This is a real melodic gem with clean sounds and hypnotic soundscapes.

Not someting you will find in a recommended algorithm I can tell you that much.

If you check out the spotify profile you’ll find out why.

Give it a shot, you’ll also understand why I’m not just running my mouth.

Njoy.

Genre: Handpicked greatness.

Always Forward
