🍱 Delicacy of the Day
Ivy Lab - Infinite Falling Ground [The whole thing]
It might be odd to start recommending whole ass ALBUMS.
But there’s a reason for this as you’ll find in the daily drivel.
This album by British Creature duo Ivy Lab is one of the best albums of 2022. It went toe-to-toe with the INCREDIBLE albums that came out that year.
It’s very hard to describe this album. It’s one of those things you either love or hate.
The sound design is spectacular. World Class stuff that will blow your mind.
On the other hand, you cannot dance to this.
This is PREMIUM headphone music.
Kind of like watching the most beautiful piece of art, but the painting is throwing pure audible bliss at you.
It’s a very unique experience. If you enjoy analyzing songs and just want ear candy this is as good as it gets.
It’s the perfect balance between IDM and “bass music”
We’ve showcased some of the songs in this album before and they’ve had incredible reception, so there is something here for everyone.
The bass is incredible. Most songs have the risk of blowing out your speakers on the cleanest basslines you’ve heard.
The sounds are mostly natural with some synth mixed in. You can spend hours spotting random noises that shouldn’t work but do. It’s nothing short of amazing.
Pretty much explains the “lab” in the name.
Some of my favorites from this album are Cognac, celeste, and late night fit.
If the first half is “too noisy”, everything after NOVV is a lot more “groovy” with the same (if not more insane) sound design.
This is an incredilbe album to get lost in sound. If you’ve never heard of Ivy lab this is a fantastic introduction.
Your ears are going to be eating good.
Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel
Okay, now look. I might be QUITE LATE to the party on this one.
They announced this all the way back in JANUARY and I only found out through a discord notification from a guy streaming one of their “newer” EPs (from like, May, lol)
So, you know, the saying “Duo breakups are a matter of when” still holds true. Here it took like 13 years.
Regardless, they are influential and have made some incredible tracks like 20 questions, Orange, When I go, Daily Star, etc.
Of course, its very much in the “acquired taste” territory. If you show this to a complete beginner, they will think you enjoy hearing printers dying in your spare time.
I think they have made some incredible tracks and pushed the electronic genre to new heights.
I didn’t really get into them until 2022 with today’s album, but ever since, I've made an effort to keep up with their antics.
I’ve even showcased some of their songs in these emails a couple times. It’s really good stuff.
Their sound design is unmatched and they’ve made some incredible tracks.
I wish both luck on whatever comes next. They seem to be focusing on their own label Twenty Twenty London Recordings so definitely check that out.
Thank you Ivy Lab for 13 years of incredible music.
Always Forward
