🍱 Delicacy of the Day

Abnormal Australian Just a Gent has been in the game for more than a decade.

He has some of the most unique sound design and composition in the game.

It has that air of experimentation and growth. A lot of his songs have also aged incredibly well.

As you go through his discography, you’ll find every single genre under the sun. There is no genre he won’t produce.

Today’s song is ANOTHER example of that with uhhh…

Drum & Jazz? It’s this odd combination between jazz and drum and bass.

Alright time for the description.

The painos are sharp, the sounds are swingy and energetic, and the saxophones that hit at the end give that perfect close.

It’s a catchy song too! I found myself running it back to see if I could find more sounds and I did!

Its a very well produced song and one your ears won’t immediately understand.

Jemma Cher also did a fantastic job with the vocals. She matches the vibe perfectly.

Overall this is something that will blow your ears away.

Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel

Alright I finally got healed from the illness and got set up in the new office.

So its time for some RAPID FIRE ALBUM REVIEWS!!

Monkey safari - You Don’t Know What To Do (7/10)

It was alright, it was like they wanted to go for Rufus du Sol vibes but then halfway through they switched it to whatever else,

Not a bad album but it has like 3 REALLY good songs while everything else is like, okay.

There’s also no cohesion between the songs, everything sounds kinda random.

The energy is all over the place and the songs jump from one tempo to another.

In any case, I’ll keep them in the radar.

Just a Gent - Roots In The Sky (8/10)

Well… I never expected a just a gent drum and bass EP but here we have it!

I know I know, theoretically it’s an EP but I am THIS desperate to find an album of the year lol.

That said, it’s pretty fun! The sound design is amazing and Just a Gent does some new stuff with the vocals,

Of course it has the drum & bass curse. To most you’ll find something new here, but for me and other people who have been in the genre for years, it’s the same old compositions BUT with much different sound design.

Very good EP album overall!

Villager - DEAR GOD, MR VILLAGER (7/10)

Yeah this is a “throw crap at the wall, SOMETHING will stick” type of album.

There are some good songs here and there but the whole time I was like “alright, next”

Every track is a big hit or miss. in my case, a lot of it was misses imo.

This one is a lot more experimental sounding. Every song is its own journey into a new type of sound and

MK - In the night again (5/10)

I… kinda forgot this was playing until the album was over lmao.

Have not heard an album this forgettable in a WHILE.

This is of course your mass produced Tech House album. I swear I’ve heard all of these songs 20 times before

…in the last 6 months.

Ironically enough the piano house songs stand out the most lol.

Piano house is just such an easy genre, it just sounds good with like minimal effort.

It got tiresome FAST though. By the 16th song I was counting down the SECONDS for it to be over.

Alright, thats all I got for today.

As always, go listen to these albums yourself and get your own thoughts from it.

Always Forward
