Making a Hit List.

and not of the music kind.

If you’re feeling lost, read the bit under. If you just want the bloody song, it’s at the end of the email, Njoy.

Today was another one of those "Existential crisis at the wage cage days." (Won’t go into much detail)

So to get clarity, I listed down everything I’m currently doing and want to do in the future and called it “The Hit List”.

Some have been in progress for years (like the marketing gig). Others came up while writing this email (hosting Dumpster exclusive live events).

All in all there were 20 things written down - Rikers Island (yikes).

Making a list isn’t enough at this “dreadful” stage though…

It’s time to find the ROOT for each of these 20 things.

So I start with the important question:

“WHY do I want to do this?”

And then where it came from…

“Did I come up with it myself? Did someone else tell me to do it? Have I succumbed to the Crackies outside 7/11 and their odd advice?”

Then saw if it was compatible with the North Star.

“Is it aligned with my Vision, Mission and Purpose?”

Then the level of commitment.

Am I willing to do this every day for the next 5 years?

And the most underrated question:

Is it a HECK YEAH or a yeah yeah?

I ran the all 20 things through those questions and found the slop clogging the bandwidth.

Yeah that list process is time intesive, but it's less time than spending 30 hours on the thing and going "yeah this sucks” as it’s happened many times these past 3 years.

A list of 20 things got knocked down to 5. (7/11 Crackies ain’t that bad at giving advice after all…)

The Dumpster is one of those remaining 5.

So it’s not going away anytime soon BAYBEE.

There’s some “work” involved, but if you’re feeling directionless, overwhelmed or want to find your priorities, give it a spin!

On to the music.

After using music in all of these “self-insight” experiments, I’m convinced it can help you get into the mood for self-reflection and find more things.

And what better song than this beauty by Latvian Lethargic (name in progress™️) Kashuks.

His songs are masterworks full of emotive melodies, using a perfect mixture of instruments and synths to deliver a unique experience.

It’s my go-to for those long road trips where I want to ponder and answer essential questions like, “What the heck is a number, and why did we all just agree to it?” or “Can a gorilla really beat a grizzly bear in a fight?”

Yeah, the music can be a bit “out there,” but keeping an open mind and expanding your tastes will do wonders for you.

And come on, you and I don’t like electronic music because it sounds like the slop coming out in every other genre.

So grab a pen and paper, put on some headphones, melt into your couch, let the music do its work, and list out everything you're doing and want to do.

Your mind can be more than doubt and “it is what it is” if you give it the target.

But more of that on another day.

Njoy.

P.S. This is also another gorgeous sunset song. If you have the chance use it for tomorrow’s sunset at the REASONABLE TIME OF 4:40PM (← taking daylight savings easily).
