🍱 Delicacy of the Day

Today I’m revealing another tape from the trip playlist.

I know this artist has been overrepresented, but it just goes to show how amazing they are.

This is ANOTHER masterpiece by British Creature duo Koan Sound.

As everything they release, they combine instruments with the smoothest and complex sounds.

This is “gold standard” of Electronic Music and proof that the genre can be more than just “assorted noise.”

It would also be a crime to not mention the second drop. No spoilers but it makes the whole song worth it.

Aside from that, there’s a story being told. Everything from the intro to the ending comes together in a satisfying way

A song that requires patience that will be rewarded.

Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel

For the next 20 days I’ll be exploring the ridiculous trip from last year

I didn’t have time to write it when it happened. So why not take advantage of Nostalgia Year to re-live some memories, eh?

If you don’t mind or care (no blame there), enjoy the hand-picked songs that made up this trip a lot more special. They’re even better than the amazing stuff we regularly send.

After yesterdays running around I took a bit of a late start to catch up on some work.

Of course, only I choose to do this under the Great Firewall which didn’t appreciate me using a VPN to access all my work sites.

Regardless, it was very cool having the view of both towers from the hotel window.

After catching up it was time to get going.

Longhua temple

This is a beautiful temple.

The contrast between the Japanes, Chinese, and Korean temples was in full display.

Japanese temples have insane outside architecure and a simplistic inside.

Korean ones are massive and have al ot more colors.

Chinese ones have THIS:

They don’t play with their shrines, these are genuienly awe inspiring.

  1. First lunch in China

.I hadn't eaten in 2 days at this point. Yesterday was nonstop and I didn't want to stop to eat.

So effectively the last "meal" I had was a burger in Korea

And so the plan was to check out the dumpling spot I saw while waddling to the tower from

And well…

Yeah, I ended up wolfing down…

30 dumplings.

In the span of like 15 miuntes lmao.

Definitely threw a nuke at my endocrine system but it was well worth it.

  1. Oriental pearl tower

You already know

Another day, another tower

This was the equivalent to Tokyo tower.

It was smaller and gave a more "middle view" of Shanghai.

And the “top floor” upsell actually gave a view instead of THE BALANCER THING.

I actually made it in time for the sunset! Which…

Will we get a real sunset at some point???

it doesn’t matter because check out these sights once the city comes to life.

However, as customary both phones and battery died again. This meant I once again returned to not existing. (which was an issue since I had to get back home)

I had to walk around looking for someone who spoke English.

That wasn’t happening so I started cold approaching some random citizens.

Thankfully, someone was kind enough to let me use their battery,

They didn't even English so it was a matter of hand signs which worked!

After charging the phone, I rushed ot make it back on 20% battery.

As it was my last full day in Shanghai I spent the whole night packing.

No rest for the wicked and such.

More tomorrow.

[One paragraph: why it slaps. Hyperbolic enthusiasm, specific, no fluff. 2–4 sentences.]

Oriental pearl tower You alreeady Know Another day, another tower This was the equivalent to Tokyo tower It was smaller and gave a more "middle view" of Shanghai

Day two in Shanghai was a plot twist in the best way. First stop: Longhua Temple, a ridiculously beautiful Chinese temple with layers of stunning architecture and jaw-dropping shrines hidden inside. Japanese temples feel cozy and compact, Korean temples feel grand and massive, but Chinese temples? They're like architectural treasure chests, with something spectacular waiting in every courtyard.

Then came the real emergency: I had not eaten in two days. My last meal was a burger in Korea, so I went full dumpling warrior mode and demolished about 30 dumplings. No regrets. Zero survivors.

Next, I visited the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower, one of Shanghai's must-see attractions. The views were incredible, but naturally, my phone died again because apparently it wanted its own vacation. Without a phone, paying for anything in China becomes a survival game. I needed money for transportation, and thankfully, a kind stranger let me use their battery pack despite us sharing basically no English. Somehow, through hand gestures and pure desperation, we made it work.

After the tower, I wandered around nearby malls and shops. One mall had the Labubu song playing on an endless loop, which started as funny and slowly became psychological warfare. Eventually, tired but victorious, I found my way back home after another wild Shanghai adventure.
