🍱 Delicacy of the Day
Koan Sound - Temple of Fervor
Coming at you with an absolute BEAUTY of a song from British Creature duo Koan Sound.
This is one of those that has a lot more instruments and has a JOURNEY feel.
Every minute feels like its own song.
It only gets better as it goes so there’s no way to get bored.
But the best part of the song is the instrument selection.
No spoilers on what the instruments are, but this is one of those songs you can get lost in the sound.
Highly recommended. One of the most unique experiences in electronic music.
Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel
For the next 36 days I’ll be exploring the extremely ridiculous trip from last year
I didn’t have time to write it when it happened. So why not take advantage of Nostalgia Year to re-live some memories, eh?
If you don’t mind or care (no blame there), enjoy the hand-picked songs that made up this trip a lot more special. They’re even better than the amazing stuff we regularly send.
7am.
Today is an important day.
I rush to get out of the house to catch the bus in time.
Any delay means the day is effectively over.
Which is why I’m amazed at the ability to take the wrong train…
3 TIMES.
BACK TO BACK.
It was an unfortunate situation.
This was when traveling with 475Mbps of data was becoming a burden.
Google craps Maps was NOT able to give me fast directions.
That ended in me getting on the wrong train once, getting off at the wrong station, and getting on the wrong train.
And so, AN HOUR LATER, I make it to the first location:
Yakushi-Ji
This place was MASSIVE. Which is surprising since it’s really out of the way and in a random village.
And yet, it was GORGEOUS.

This place was MASSIVE.
It was also having some form of official procession in the official building so they kicked me out.
And after spending a good hour exploring it front to back it was time to leave.
Arrival in Nara
When somene tells you “there’s this place where the deer feed you” you don’t think much of it.
But when you get there…

My actual reaction.
I seriously don’t know how people live day to day with this.
Like it’s cool and all don’t get me wrong.
But… really?
Can’t complain too much as I folded and ended up feeding the deer.
It was only a bit dangerous because they recognize the shape of the cookie.
So out of nowhere you got 6 deer surrounding you, trying to bite you to get a crumb of whatever deer-slop cookies you’re holding.
Aside from deer, this place had A LOT of temples. So going to do my best to let the pictures do the talking.
Todai-Ji

Very cool seeing such massive structures.
It was one of those where you feel small.
Very cool experience.
Nigatsu-Do
Stumbled my way into this temple, you’ll NEVER guess why.

This is probably the highest point in Nara.
So as the saying geoes.
Another day, another tower.
Kasuga-Taisha
This was the shrine that has hundreds of little lanterns.
When you make the pilgrimage you go thorugh these paths that are filled with stone lanterns

The temple itself was also BEAUTIFUL.

By this point it was already 6pm which meant everything was starting to close.
Trip to Kyoto
Japan is so picturesque. Unforuntately I was running out of battery on both phones and the portable battery was also dead which meant preserving battery.
The one good thing about Kyoto is that I got home early which meant resting more.
So after a good WEEK of running everywhere, I called it in and slept at a reasonable time.
Which was good because tomorrow was a day I had been waiting a year for.
More tomorrow…
