What does your Life Playlist sound like?
Depending on how long you’ve been in the Dumpster, you may be familiar with the “life playlist” concept.
At first, it might sound like something you’d hear a homeless man outside the gas station ramble about after you denied him $5 for crack.
But it is one of the Laws of the Dumpster (name in progress™️).
Yes, it is about sending good, impactful music that can improve your days.
But it’s also about giving you more ammo to make memories with.
For example, today’s song takes me back to 2018.
It’s August. The Mexico summer sun is scorching down on some family members and I.
We’re at this weird Mexico/Swiss celebration, which is always hosted in this gorgeous hacienda (a fancy name for a big ranch).
It was time for the traditional “bonfire.” It’s a weird ritual in which they light up a massive 10ft bonfire. Ten minutes after the adults' “wows” are over, kids throw whatever they can to topple it.
I had just finished eating an unhealthy amount of free ice cream and was running around the bonfire like someone had just fed me 100lb of energy-filled crack.
After finishing the summoning getting tired, I joined the rest of the “unaware child brigade” in the yearly “topple the huge bonfire, potentially creating an uncontrollable and destructive fire” ritual.
Unfortunately, the Gestapo (parents) were quick to end the fun before we did enough damage.
This song was playing on repeat throughout the whole day. It still takes me to that moment when I’m looking at the landscape, seeing the mountains behind the forest while running around the bonfire.
You know… Maybe that song was the crack…
But that is a “life song.” When you listen to it, it evokes a deep memory that lets you feel that emotion again.
A “life playlist” is a collection of these songs. In most cases the songs have “seasonal themes” (like this one did for the summer) and can trigger a nostalgia cascade.
I’m sure you have those songs. If not, are you sure you're LISTENING to music?
So yes, some of these daily songs have an “essence” and a “why"
Music is the most powerful form of art. Use it to make your life more manageable.
Nuff about that, let’s talk about the song.
Koven is one of those legendary “underground to headliner” stories you love to see. In a couple of short years, they went from invisibility to becoming one of the most popular British Creature duos.
They are good at their craft. The vocals are okay but the melodies are ON POINT.
This song is no different. The powerful melody with hard-hitting synths makes for a euphoric experience.
The choir in the back adds an unmatched aura to the song. It could be that monstercat listeners did the choir which is pretty cool.
Maybe the dumpster should organize a Choir and sample it, lol.
In any case, this song is one of Koven’s best. Highly recommended.
Nuff Yappin.
Njoy
Genre: Drumstep/synthpop hybrid. It’s very good tho.

P.S. What is your favorite “life song”? I want to expand more on this topic and it would be great to make sure I’m not the only schizo one that believes in this type of thing. Reply back and let me know!
