Every Sunday either Hyperoxia or I will send you a micro-review of a single song.
“Hz, this is the 7th time you showcase IMANU this month”
I know I know. BUT there’s something extra to this song that makes it even more meaningful.

Artist Lore
Look, I’ve talked enough about IMANU. So I’m actually going to talk about Lia Kuri this time.
Lia Kuri is an American’t artist who makes music about personal and collective human experiences, climate change, dystopia, life purpose, and love.
She’s also been in the vocals for many amazing songs that have been previously showcased here.
She has a dreamlike voice that brings a feeling of nostalgia and calm.
It’s one of the few that ADD to an electronic song instead of sounding like she wants to be in a rock band.
The Great
This original song is part of her debut album which is -in her words- an open letter to our dying planet.
Here’s more about the insanely interesting album.
"I wrote the lyrics from the perspective of Mother Earth. It's as much an album about the climate crisis as it is about motherhood and the maternalization I've experienced in my life.
As an only child, I've had to caretake for my mother through cancer and my father through dementia. Both of these experiences greatly marked me. I think there's also a sort of self-maternalization that happened since I became accustomed to mothering my parents.”
And its a feeling you can hear in every song from the original album. Give it a listen when you have a chance.
IMANU made a fantastic job of keeping the same feeling of the original song with a more energetic twist to it.
As with every other song in his collection, it’s full of pristine sound design, head-bopping energy, and a feeling of “yo run it back” when it unfortunately ends.
It’s as they say, “Who would have wondered that hopelessness could sound so good?”
The one gripe with it.
Can’t find any, call it bias but songs that have a purpose and meaning are harder to judge for things that were purposely placed there.
Wrappin it up
Lia Kuri made something beautiful with this album. IMANU did what he does best and like a museum curator, kept what made the original good and added a twist that made it better.
It’s worth listening to both and also considering buying the tracks themselves as it goes towards a good cause.
There’s more I want to talk about the concepts of care and keeping but for now, enjoy this amazing song.

Gotta post the original of course, she has a really fun production style. Her album is also worth a listen, its very unique in all the best ways.
