Is this love?

Or is it something else

Welcome to Sunday Singles!

Every Sunday either Hyperoxia or I will send you a micro-review of a single song.

This is a song that accurately describes the uncertainty of relationships. It’s an odd thing to write about since most love songs are about how good it is (I think. I don’t know, lol)

Regardless, this is a gorgeous song.

Song Info

Title: LP Giobbi - Is This Love

Release Date: 10/18/24

Genre: Classical Electronic

Runtime: 3:57

Artist Lore

LP Giobbi is an American’t of many talents. She’s a Jazz Pianist, record label owner, and music director for… hotels? (Damn bro sign me up for that one, lol). Among many things she’s a master of “Piano House”.

The funny thing is, today’s song doesn’t really have a piano on it, lol.

The Great

I don’t know how a song about love can feel so sad. But I do think this is a more accurate representation of being unsure if something will work or not. The confusion and uncertainty.

Now this is my big bias but the Violin in electronic music can never get old.

There’s something inherently beautiful about this instrument. The way it’s used in this song is nothing short of amazing.

Combining the limits of normal instruments with the limitlessness of electronic music is what makes it work.

There’s never too much of it either. It enters and leaves at the right time.

The best moments in the song are the buildup and second drop. The use of violins leaves you in a state of euphoria as you travel through this sound.

I recommend this song when you need to make a decision. It sounds odd, but it works.

The one gripe with it.

The vocals. I understand the concept of using them but it’s just a bit too repetitive (LOL)

While it doesn’t sound bad (she picked a good singer), it definitely takes away from the beauty of the composition.

Wrappin it up

I wish more artists experimented with more instruments, as the combination—when done right—can be the most gorgeous thing humans can listen to.

On the other hand, it should stay that way. Having a select few be able to do it makes it even more special and amazing when it happens.

Similar to it

This is another song from the same album. This one has more emphasis on grooves and has a more upbeat sound. Very nice.
