Today I came across this image:
It seemed like a crazy statistic but then I went to hell reddit and saw this.
One of the first comments was some guy complaining that his favorite albums weren’t there lmaooo
237+ albums.
That’s not counting EPs, singles, compilations, and whatever else.
It’s reached the point where there aren’t enough hours in the day to truly enjoy the new releases.
But this is the natural flow of things.
When art is easily accessible to everyone, the amount of art will increase (duh).
So what is the solution when you can’t stop the onslaught?
Picking better. Now more than ever your attention is most valuable. There will be more content this year than ever before.
AI has made it possible to create just about anything in seconds: articles, videos, images, music, you name it.
What you pick to engage with will decide if it stays alive.
There’s no stopping it now. The world will continue on until we reach absolute entropy.
I don’t know what’s going to happen then. But I imagine it will go through a collapse (Even though there’s so much money keeping it alive… for now)
It’s not only music though…
The entire entertainment industry is facing the same issue. Videogames, movies, shows, books, etc.
There is so much of it being produced it’s impossible to keep up.
It’s not all negative of course…
This will bring about the revival of real, physical experiences. Special performances that take effort and more planning than pushing buttons on a computer or using AI.
As the digital gets drowned in slop, real meaning will come from real experiences with real people.
I guess we really are returning to monkey huh…
But hey - that's just my prediction.
Until then, the entertainment industry will keep growing and eating itself until there’s nothing left.
As for you? This isn’t a problem. Hyperoxia and I will keep searching and sending you the best and different in an ever-growing sea of music.
You can expect the best day by day until entropy reaches us too - it’s the only universal law alongside death.
But lighten up, it’s the deadline that gives things meaning.
If that’s too depressing…
Know that as long as you’re working towards what you want, you have all the time in the world.
Alright, let’s get out of that music-created existential crisis with music!
This song is from 10 years ago when it was still possible to keep up with music.
It’s both euphoric and upbeat in it’s own unique way.
And despite it’s age, it still sounds clean today.
So sit back, relax…

P.S. It’s both crazy and depressing going back through the old monstercat catalog. On one hand it created many legendary artist. On the other it’s slowly and surely moving towards entropy as all major labels have.
Very interesting to see.
