One brick a day will build a castle
Can't get enough
Every morning on the wage cage commute, I’ve started being more present and observing what’s around.
And every Monday - Fridee, apart from the husk-eyed zombies on their way to work, I see this one fat guy taking a daily walk.
But he is so committed, he even took a walk while Miami was under tornado and tropical storm warnings.
When I first saw him six months ago, he must have weighed at least 400 pounds (or 181 kg if you’re a non-imperial).
Today, I estimate he’s around 200 (90 kg). Still “big” but I’m sure he’ll be a completely different person by the end of the year.
Now it’s impossible to know how long he walks or if there are other lifestyle changes (frankly, walking won’t do any good without proper diet to support it) but it proves that “one brick a day will make a castle).
While it’s not a “new” productivity tactic, it can do wonders in your personal and professional life.
By “one a day,” I’m not talking about extreme things like “one essay a day” or “one full two-hour workout a day”…
But manageable tasks that get you in the right direction, no matter how small.
You can apply it to ANY goal you have.
Want to be healthier? Start with a fruit a day.
Want to to improve your career? Start with doing one extra task at work (even if you hate it).
Want to be a better student? Start reading 5 pages of your class book a day.
It’s not much, but the magic comes from the compound.
At the end of the week, you’ll have seven fruits eaten, more job accomplishments, and 35 pages read.
Compare that to the “I’ll just do it later when I have more time/motivation”.
Of course, this is easier said than done. This is why in a couple days, you’ll have the opportunity to achieve your goals with a simple to follow system that makes it almost foolproof (as long as you do the work).
But more on that another day.
Back to “one a day”, here’s today’s song!
Admittedly xeroxed from Hyperoxia, I can’t get enough of this song. It’s been stuck on replay, and it’s pumped me up through a work slump.
This song has everything right with the new gen: fresh sound, fun beats, and a great melody that makes you want to move.
Not surprising coming from a Can’tifornian. That faction is one of the biggest innovators in recent years.
This song follows the simple formula: put bass, kicks, and bass over a fantastic melody. Hard to land but done gracefully on this one.
After one listen, you won’t be able to get enough.
Njoy.
Genre: New-House
