💭 Quick Drivel
For the next 6 days I’ll be exploring the ridiculous trip from last year (been counting these wrong the whole time, lol)
I didn’t have time to write it when it happened. So why not take advantage of Nostalgia Year to re-live some memories, eh?
If you don’t mind or care (no blame there), enjoy the hand-picked songs that made up this trip a lot more special. They’re even better than the amazing stuff we regularly send.
Let me set the stage real quick…
You know that song that was a meme back in the day. Usually played during morning scenes in movies?
Let me see if I can pull it up.
Yeah so imagine that while you read the following scene…
I wake up and rub my eyes.
This is the best I’ve slept this entire trip.
I stretch my arms, feeling full of energy.
Time to check my phone to see what the plan is. I’m sure my friend will be here so-
20 MISSED CALLS.
I look at the clock.
11:13 am.
I was supposed to meet up with Clara (the friend and now tour guide) at 8am.
30+ messages are (understandably) waiting for a response.
Yeaaaah…… it seems 30+ days of sub 5 hours of sleep finally caught up.
I did the call of shame and was given 15 minutes to get ready for pickup.
No biggie! I’ll just hop in the showe-
It seems breakfast is served! (I’m sorry. I’m recreating the same “shock” feeling as much as possible.)
Yeah so uh…
Very cool surprise at the door!
It was also right in front of the bathroom door so I had to… do some delicate maneuvers (there was a drink included)
Maybe its a message from the creatures living in this humble abode, but there’s no time to appreciate or decode it.
I rush to get ready and fly out the door.

Unfortunately, the original plans to drive an hour away to explore some woods and see penguins are ruined, so it's time to find new ones.
Which I wasn’t responsible for, since the moment I got in the car, she hit me with the.
“Alright, we’re going to a surprise place.”
Sounds good!
And so we’re on the way.
Genuinely a fun song to drop randomly. It was played MANY times during this trip and to this day I have found nothing like it.
Moonlight Sanctuary
Alright. This place is amazing.
It’s a sanctuary dedicated to showcasing and caring for Australian animals.
I mean who doesn’t recognize…
The common brown duck! (and this weird two-legged freak)

They actually let us feed the kangaroos hahaha.
They be getting in there fr.
Genuinely an incredible experience. It’s also very peculiar to see these silly critters run around.
But that wasn’t the only resident!

I’m surprised they even had one of these, especially considering they won a full-on war.
It felt like visiting a war veteran. It was grumpy, didn’t want to be approached, and looked ready to re-live its glory days.
But there’s something missing, ain’t there?
Of course! It’s the

I’ve been to a dozen zoos and never seen these lazy beasts up close.
Now you get to see it up close too!
Some dudes fr be looking at you like this after asking you the most heinous question imaginable.
They be giving you some weird ass looks too tho

ANYWAY, enough of this beast.
This place has weird animals.
I think the oddest one had to be this one:
Yeah, thats a piece of meat. In Australia, even the birds are carnivores lmfao
They’re called Kookaburras. They have this freakish laugh as a “chirp”.
My live reaction to seeing an mf LIME EBIKE at the bottom of the Yarra River.
They have this evil look in their eyes, and when they laugh, they look like those supervillains.
A very odd sight to behold.
Moving on…
Now I’m not sure who Australians are trying to trick here.
But this is clearly someone’s mf dog

There was also the fearsome Tasmanian DEVIL.
More like Tasmanian BUMvil.
Unfortunately, bro was sleeping on the job, so this was the best picture I got.
Then there were the OWLS
They actually look scarier in person icl
The park was closing by this point so we got to see the RAREST animal in this whole zoo.
Time to get a better phone!
It’s this weird, lazy mammal creature that is iconic to Australia, and barely leaves its underground burrow. (Wait a minute…)
It seems a lot of the animals were waking up at 4pm.
Park staff told us this was a lucky sight, as they rarely come out.
…Then they kindly told us to get out now, as the park was closing.
Oh well. Thankfully I didn’t see any of the Australian BUGGE.
The legend of the one-legged seagull.
We were close to a nice spot by the beach, and Clara recommended getting some fish and chips (a local delicacy?)
It might look unnapetizing, but this was PHENOMENAL.
We decided to eat it in the park.
Which proved to be a horrible mistake as this was the POV 5 minutes later
Of course, in classic Hz fashion, I wanted to find out what would happen if I offered a fry as a bribe.
This is a picture of the legendary hero. Yes, it’s missing a leg.
It seems to have worked perfectly!
Shortly after this picture was taken, this sole seagull (the one in the picture) LITERALLY CHASED AWAY PACKS OF SEAGULLS AWAY FROM THE TABLE so we could eat in peace.
Not all heroes wear capes.
It sounds pretty unbelievable, but this hero gull was literally making sure we didn’t get jumped by rogue seagulls.
We, of course, paid him generously with a whole batch of fries.

After that, we found a cool spot to watch the sunset.

Another Day…
ANOTHER LOOKOUT!
This was on top of a hill.
Can’t lie, the view was incredible (albeit a bit cloudy)
And another cloudy sunset after all…
Not much else to say as this was legit a parking lot on top of a hill hahaha. Still a cool spot to bring someone (I didn’t save the location)
Board games
After this we just went to Clara’s house to play some board games.
The selection for the night was “Escape from haunted house on the hill”
In case you’ve never heard of it…
The game is about exploring a haunted house that evolves as you explore it. Eventually you’ll trigger a “game-changing” event that turns the game from exploration into survival.
It’s a phenomenal experience and an incredible game! Highly recommended.
The only thing is that it can be long. The full game took us like 3 hours lol.
After this it was time to head home.
Final thoughts.
I can’t lie, Australia has been pretty cool!
Seeing all the animals is a worthwhile experience. It’s an amazing experience and you can’t get that anywhere else.
There’s also a lot of nature and cool spots.
And so far the food has been pretty good!
In any case, I had to go to sleep early. Can’t be repeating the same mistakes all the time huh?
