🍱 Delicacy of the Day
I’ve been obsessed with this song for the past couple of weeks.
Can’t really explain why. One of those songs that you listen to once, forget about, and then a couple months later buzzes in your head endlessly.
It seems my music taste has irreversibly changed since discovering Abnormal Australian mastermind Ninajirachi.
For good reason too! She’s made some of the most fun songs over the past couple of years.
This one is no exception.
Like every other song from Nina, it has those yummy saw sounds that are just oh so addictive. The basslines are sharp and the whole thing is catchy.
The vocals are used really well . Can’t explain it without sounding like “well duh” but is some of the best “vocal to sound” synergy I’ve heard.
Like the thing most electronic music has is horrible vocals that sound so disconnected from everything else
Anyway, this one is nothing like it.
I don’t know why I keep sending songs that sound like summer. It’s only spring in Australia so I can’t even use them as a cop out.
In any case, this is a FUN song. The second drop makes it even better.
Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel
Today A month ago I listened to the new Slayyyter album that came out earlier this year.
I didn’t send it here since it’s a bit more pop-focused and not really within the scope of this newsletter.
That said, it’s a good album. It has a lot of raw emotion and sounds that remind me of 2010 radio.
The lyrics are a bit raunchy (in my sheltered opinion), but they come across as honest and reminiscent of past experiences.
Not something I’d put on regularly but still good as a “hearing what’s going on outside of electronic music” expedition result.
Would recommend if pop is your thing and you want to hear something aside from Taylor Swift (is that even pop anymore? Idek man what does she even do?)
So why in the WORLD am I sending something like this?
Because my algorithm has recently been CURSED with electropop. (Which is still the case a month later)
If ambient is the electronic music genre of 2026, Electrpop is the DE FACTO winner of all 2026 genres.
It's going through a renaissance period where some of it actually sounds good.
Of course, its part of the current cycle of things I started seeing its slow but eventual rise to power after Frost Children’s SISTER album came out late 2025.
It seems that the nostalgia-fueled year acted as an accelerant to its spreading popularity. The whole thing sounds like Y2K radio stuff.
I expect it to keep growing for the next 2-3 years before it hits a stagnation point. I think it’ll remain a staple in people’s listening diet (instead of fading into obscurity again).
To go even more “schizo” I’m going to claim that this is part of the “Great Acceleration” where people are looking for faster sounding songs.
Might be a crazy take, but look at how popular the whole “hard techno” (which is just hardstyle lmao) thing became.
And it might be my limited exposure to music outside of electronic, but the little the leaks into my “cave” sounds a lot faster than it did.
Even latin music seems to be accelerating and that’s supposed to be slow no?
Maybe it’s because this year went by so mf fast that people wanted music to match that speed.
Music is an interesting phenomenon tbh, I think it mirrors the current state of things. Kinda like art but a bit more “active” and “intimate”
And (in my opinion) the music says “Wild shit is coming, hold on.”
I don’t know. I’m just throwing observations out there.
I’ll catch you with a more calmer email tomorrow.
Always Forward

P.S. this email has been sitting in the backlog for a fat minute now. I wrote the draft to this a while ago. Its probably my most unhinged one yet LMAO. Thank you for reading.
