Are you up for a challenge?
I call it a challenge because that's what people turn this question into.
The funny thing about it is that there's nothing hard or challenging about the question. It's the brain that turns it into rocket science.
Everyone I've asked so far freezes for twenty seconds before saying "I actually don't know".
So before I reveal the magic question, here's the challenge: answer it with full truth and honesty.
Imagine you're the only person in the world and keep you and yourself only in mind when answering this “impossible” question:
What do you want?
If you answer "success" or "happiness" then here's a followup question: how do you define "success" or "happiness"?
Is it a million dollars? 10,000 cars? A big farm? Buying a rocket ship and escaping this planet?
If that question stumped you, don't worry.
Finding what you want feels impossible for some reason.
There's so many opportunities, so little time in the day, and the prospect of getting married to something as big as "what you want" is scary.
So instead of answering such a broad question, here's a better one:
"if you were to wake up tomorrow and have a perfect day, what would it look like?"
This is the question that helped me answer the first.
It put many many things into perspective.
