I’m at the wage cage hard at work (reading esoteric books) when a resident walks in with a horse (gorgeous and oversized brown retriever).
I greet him and open the checkpoint door that separates the front desk landing from the main lobby.
Once he goes through and the door closes, chaos ensues…
Crazed barks erupt from the other side of the door.
A one-sided dog war unfolds behind the gates in the lobby.
I consider getting up from my chair to watch stop the bloodbath…
But as I’m about to get up, I remember my manager's stern words: "Unless it’s fire, flood, or blood, you CANNOT, for ANY REASON, leave the desk unattended for more than 5 minutes.”
The dog war sounds serious. What if there’s blood? But I already got in trouble from that one time…
My thoughts get interrupted by the sound of the lobby door opening.
Here it comes…
The Beast.
Could it be a Doberman? a Pitbull? a Great Dane? What type of creature makes this type of noise?…
A kind lady walks out with the STILL barking crazy dog…
In her arms?!
I do a double take on the ferocious beast causing such ruckus and see…
A 6” subway sandwich-sized white Maltese….
“I think my dog is racist.” She says while walking out the main door.
I burst into laughter as the door closed behind her and the racist microbeast.
Oh, the wonders of property management…
You always hear things you would never imagine said in your wildest dreams.
Just like electronic music. It is the only genre full of infinite unique and diverse sounds. There’s always something new to discover.
