Artist Lore
Gonna be the first to say it: the name doesn’t match the song AT ALL.
When you hear the name SCREAMARTS, you imagine a metal band from the early 2000s with a horrible logo.
But that’s because this is an Austrian Painter Assailant (name in progress) who specializes in heavy drum and bass, specifically Neurofunk.
Are those other tracks good? They’re alright. Neuro is a genre you need a certain vibe for, and Sunday afternoon ain’t one of them lol.
The Great
This is one of those “let me try to do something chill” songs heavy artists do. It's a funny trend when heavy bass artists make a chill song that's even better than their previous stuff. Then they go “lol that’s never happening again.”
Regardless WOW does it deliver.
The sounds are mellow and soft. The small vocal chops between the songs give it a story and personality.
The simplicity and minimalism makes this song thrive. It is definitely a rain-friendly song.
I love the simple beat it uses. There’s no complicated or screechy sounds - just simple kick, clap, some synth piano pads, and the voices. It’s a tough execution to land but he did it gracefully.
It doesn’t feel long at all despite being 5 whole minutes. At no point do you want to go “Alright I’ve heard enough.” It’s a song that keeps you hooked with its little details and mixture of sounds.
The Meh
About to remove this “section” from the template. It’s pointless.
Wrappin it up
“Conclusion” sounded too much like a school assignment. This is a welcome change methinks.
But look, go listen to it. The link is right on top. Slap on some headphones, turn it to mid-volume (take care of your hearing), and let the sound melt you into a chair or couch.
Happy Sunday and I’ll see you tomorrow.
Similar to it
This one isn’t “Downtempo” but still uses the simple beat technique, it’s very well made and a nice experimental dnb track.
