Sunday Single #3

This one is not for everyone.

Welcome to Sunday Singles!

Every Sunday either Hyperoxia or I will send you a micro-review of a single song.

This week’s sons is on the more “experimental” side of it.

The simplicity and beauty of it makes it stand out. This is unsurprising considering it comes from SebastiAn, considered one of the best French producers from the early 2000’s.

Song Info

Title: Run For Me (feat. Gallant)

Release Date: 11/8/2019

Genre: Electronic/Rock

Runtime: 6:19

Artist Lore

SebastiAn is… peculiar. He has one of the craziest creative minds (As does the average French) in the scene. He is renowned to be one titan for weird electronic music since the early 2000’s.

His sounds are very well designed and his rhythms are catchy.

Nowadays he mainly produces movie scores and runway music for Saint Laurent fashion shows.

The Great

This song is gorgeous start to finish. The midsection hits hard and yet gives that “freedom” vibe to it.

The lyrics are alright, gallant has a pleasant voice. He did a great job bringing emotion to the song.

The small synth used as a bridge between the drops is addicting, it’s so smooth and doesn’t prepare you for the absolute guitar riffs that are about to drop.

Speaking of the guitar. It’s addicting. Even though it’s just some riffs, they deliver such magnetic energy you can’t help but get blown away.

The Meh

That second section did NOT have to be that long.

Having the piano section at the end would have been fine, but the guy repeating "Take one last good look at the dark" for three minutes straight is simply irritating.

Conclusion

This is a fantastic song you can use whenever feeling down or for a night drive with a significant other.

It mixes good memories with a dash of nostalgia and can start some good conversations.

While it has a very “basic” structure, this is a quality over quantity type song.

Similar to it

SebastiAn is very peculiar. Run for me is literally among the few tames songs he has.

Everything else I cannot recommend without putting a “THIS IS VERY WEIRD, LISTEN WITH CAUTION” label on it.
