Things that simply don't change.
What to do about them
A couple of hours I walked into the library and looked around in search for a desk to claim and conquer.
As I scanned the room I found something familiar yet peculiar.
A guy playing a computer game.
Nothing major about that. People are allowed to play computer games in the library (apparently). In fact, half the people using library computers are either:
A: On some sort of social media
B: Playing some farmville type game.
But here's the interesting thing: I saw this exact same guy last year and two years ago when I started using the library as a workspace.
He is there every time I go there. Even in the season where I went daily for a month, here was always there.
Even more,
He's there until the library locks out the computers 15 minutes before they close.
Of course, I don't know anything about his life. He could be a secret billionaire who enjoys playing Rise of Kingdoms on the library computer.
But to do that same process daily for 3 years? That is genuine commitment.
And he seems to follow a simple equation
If library computer available = Start game and go ham until they lock out the computer.
What’s most amusing is how he follows that simple equation every day.
When you consistently do something for a long enough time, people will notice—for better or worse.
So it's okay not to change things or beliefs that you hold dear. They may be the very thing you get recognized for and could open endless opportunities.
Of course, be smart about this, it's a double-edged sword. Find the thing that people hate but praise. If possible make it something that will result in a net positive from recognition.
If you want a clear example look at these CONSISTENT HEATERS BAYBEE.
That is the one thing the dumpster will be recognized for.
It may be dirty…
It may be late…
It may make no sense AT ALL…
But you'll get amazing music every day until you either get sick of it and unsubscribe or the sun implodes.
A great example of this is today’s song.
This is from the strongest faction - The British Creatures. One that’s been in the game for 10 years.
Stonebank.
This song is the exact energy. Actually, scratch that. It in fact may be TOO much energy for a lowly Monday.
But it’s still a fantastic song. The melody will carry you into a state of absolute excitement, and the buildups will fill you with energy.
The drops are honestly the weakest part of this song. This is a good. It would be too powerful otherwise.
The consistent reward from listening to everything before and after the drop has kept this song in rotation for seven years.
It’s a cool experience. If you need a boost to get started, I highly recommend listening to this.
I can’t explain it, but the euphoria from the buildup and midsection is enough to inspire anyone into action.
Njoy.
