Artist Lore
Originally (sure seemed like it) a hardwave producer, Unnholy now sees themselves transitioning to an ambient producer. If you’ve been in the wave/hardwave scene, you may recognize Unnholy, especially with songs alongside Juche and Nvrluv. However, as stated, Unnholy seems to be shifting more towards ambient, and as a resident ambient enjoyer, I welcome the change.
The Great
Wow, the sound profile on this song is just incredible. I’m not sure as to what EXACTLY went into the sound design for this song but, theres some heavy cyberpunk/blade runner vibes. Except its far more sinister than just that. There’s almost like, an Aliens vibe to it. Its dark, its sinister, it sounds otherworldly.

(WHOAH A GIF IN THE MIDDLE OF A REVIEW?)
But yes, this should help illustrate that otherworldly, sinister vibe this song has going for it. It’s hard not to draw comparisons between this song and classic movies such as Aliens, and its reboot/remake Prometheus. This song just fits the storytelling and worldbuilding from those movies so well. This echoing/droning sound that blips in and out is just incredible, it adds to the depth of the song and makes it sound huge. The instrument usage is also incredible and keeps it sounding ethereal, but grounded at the same time. It REALLY does sound like something that belongs in Prometheus.
The Meh
It is a VERY particular sound. It definitely is not your traditional “electronic” music song, and for that, I can see how some may find it off-putting. Some of you may even dislike the darker, more sinister tones of this song. My main gripe with the song is that it does the atmospheric and ambient portion SO WELL, and on the drop it sorta falters.
Conclusion
Now, don’t get me wrong, it STILL is a fantastic song DESPITE me voicing my gripe with it. I just, think it would have done MUCH better as a fully atmospheric/ambient track. Regardless, it definitely is a solid track and really deserves to be on a heavy sci-fi movie soundtrack.
This song is most definitely, a 4 chestbursters out of 5 chest cavities (I will NOT post the chestburster gif here).
Similar to it
While it may not be the most SIMILAR sounding, it should still invoke that same cyberpunk/blade runner vibe, albeit less sinister.
Think, more tech heavy.
