Sunday Singles #2

Hello and welcome to the second installment of Sunday Singles! This is a little something Hz and I will be doing each Sunday, where we dedicate an entire day to a song that we believe deservers more than just an Email, but that may be too short to dedicate an entire full length dive to.

So, lets jump right in!

The second song in this installment of Sunday Singles is a dark and punchy bass song with sombering and otherworldly tones. It is also, the tamest song in the EP.

Artist Lore

ATLiens are a duo outputting some of the grittiest and hardest bass music I know. Some of their songs range from incredible bass/trap/dub music to (for some people) unintelligible noise. ATLiens are definitely an insane duo with sounds that really fit the group name.

The Great

The start sounds like we’re being sucked in through a wormhole, which is very in line with the sound ATLiens encapsulates. From the start we’re met with an incredible droning bass and some elements that really emulate what a blue sky may hold. HOWEVER, in true ATLiens fashion, once the bass kicks in, its this incredible dark and bassy song, with some somber hints. The second half though is what truly blew me away. Something, totally pretty much OUT of line with ATLiens. With the bass still punchy, we’re met this time with a melodic deep bass song. Yet, the hint that this was still produced by ATLiens remains.

The Meh

While it seems its two songs in one, with two separate titles? I would have definitely liked to hear ATLiens build up upon these two distinct sounds, especially Crazy. However, regardless of that, this duo of sounds works. It makes for a very intricate and different journey.

Conclusion

I definitely think this is up with some of ATLiens best work, and is also, the most easily listenable of their entire discography. With ATLiens, there is very little in between. You either like their stuff or you don’t. This however, was a really interesting journey into what they’re capable of, and I truly do hope to hear more sounds teetering this vibe.

Another one of their songs that is a bit more easily listenable than the rest of their discography, if you enjoyed the above song, then you may enjoy the linked one below as well.
