This is part 3 of an ongoing guessing game I got going on with a resident where he has to guess where I’m from.

I’m easing into the wage cage downtime at the front desk when I see the humble guesser waddle over.
“I was bored, so I came over to guess where you’re from” says the man, towering over with confidence.
“Alright, let’s hear it.” I reply, prepared for a list of new countries to add.
“Canada”
“No.”
He ponders for a minute. In his first and second tries he guessed over 50 countries and regions. There are few places he can guess from.
That’s when he gets a flashbulb moment.
His posture widens, his face lights up with excitement, and a huge grin covers his face.
“********!” (What, you think I was going to reveal it?)
I can’t believe it…
HE GOT IT RIGHT!
“Yes.” I smile back at him “You got it”
“Wait what.” He does a double take. “You’re lying.”
“No. You got it right.”
“Huh…” He ponders for a good minute and looks at me straight in the eyes “Prove it.”
“Wait wha-”
“How many churches exist on this hill?”
“What?”
“You heard me…”
“I don’t know sir, I never went out of the house”
“WHAT? That’s a lame excuse. EVERYONE knows about that place.”
“I don’t. But hey - you got it right!”
“Well… yeah…” He sighs and gives me disappointed look. “Can I get my packages?”
And so ends the saga of the Guessing Resident. I honestly don’t know what he imagined but it was certainly not what he expected.
It’s surprisng it took that long. Most people give up or forget about it after a while. But so far it’s proven to be very engaging for breaking the ice with new people.
I can’t guarantee It’ll work for you, but it’s worth giving a shot.
