The "transformation" that might kill Electronic Music for good.
You read that right.
This email has a long time coming.
There’s no soft way to say this: I HATE this current phase of electronic music.
More specifically “Electronic” music. The kind that has become all guitars and vocals.
Electronic music has something special that makes it stand out from most other geners of muisc: it’s versatility.
The wonder of this multi-genre scene is the sounds and melodies it has, which are limited by the artists imagination.
Do guitars have as much depth? No.
You can only play 6 strings in a couple hundred ways but electronic music has no limits.
Sounds can be taken, shaped, and thrown around the room with different sounds no other instrument can really create (appliances get close sometimes tho, lol)
This whole “sadboy guitar song” being produced and peddled by genuinely groundbreaking artists is the most depressing thing the scene has seen.
This is a phenomenon that’s taken away dozens of my absolute favorite artists like Tristam, Bad Computer, Porter Robinson, and many others.
This is not an attack on instruments, pianos and drums are ESSENTIAL to this genre and I love me a good piano house song. don’t even get me started on drum and bass.
And yes, I’m all in for artist creativity, go off.
BUT DON’T DO IT ON THE MAIN. MAKE AN ALIAS. PEOPLE WHO WILL BE INTERESTED IN THAT WILL LISTEN YOUR MIDLIFE CRISIS ASS MUSIC.
Vocals work in very specific scenarios, most notably when the song is built AROUND the vocals, and not just sloppily slapped on it as most songs do.
And yet, every day more and more phenomenal artists seem to abandon their roots to “return to rock” as some sort of mass conversion event.
So as your Trash Collector In Chief (name in progress), I vow to never send this “slop” that is infesting this gorgeous music scene and will double down on sending ELECTRONIC MUSIC that takes you on a journey, makes you feel the wonders of the music, and SOUNDS like electronic music.
And today’s song is a prime example of that.
Nothing but melody, gorgeous sounds, and energy to pump up this Fridee night.
This is right from the Vault. This is music not even Hyperoxia knows about.
Of course, it has to be a good Fridee heater.
And what better option than Ninth Parallel.
He only released 3 songs and all of them are all time favorites. The energy, the sounds, the emotion in them is unlike ANYTHING I heard so far.
The buildup in this one is legendary, and the drop is just gorgeous.
Sure, at the end it has a HUGE switch, and I’m not the greatest fan of it, but yet it brings this massive serenity after experiencing what’s effectively a rollercoaster of sounds.
This is another piece of Audible Gold, and now it’s yours to experience.
Njoy.
Genre: Good Electronic Music.
Always Ranting Forward
Hz
P.S. Yes, I sound like a boomer and yes this is late, I had the other email ready to send when I heard another artist fall into the same “transformation” and well… this was the result of that. Anyway, what are you still doing here? Go listen to the song.
