Alright alright! It’s Fridee again.
Its been a mixed day. I can’t wait for this tech house crusade to be over. I don’t know how many tech house tracks I got left in me man.
Still haven’t found a back to back heater album, nor the album of the year.
It’s looking pretty dire for the Nostalgia Year™ but what can you do.
Another round of rapid fire reviews for some albums I heard today:
Jersey - NOTHING FAKE (9/10)
Idk why but I’ve been on a “generic music” enjoyment streak.
This is probably the best I’ve heard from this “subcategory of a subniche”
This is one of those albums that sound like something you’ve heard 20 times before, but its so good you don’t mind.
its all dancey house stuff, but I still heavily recommend it.
All the intros will hook you in, the energy is overall pretty good in all the songs.
I think its a great “beginner friendly” album, sophisticated listeners might be bored from how simple everything is though.
Still recommend you give it a listen and get your own thoughts from it.
Jacques Greene - jg (7/10)
Its good to finally learn Jacques favorite league position (ifykyk)
This one I had to do a double listen to get an opinoin on.
It’s a lot more minimal.
But what can I say, its his specialty.
There are some groovy tracks like “Time to go” and “what you say” that stand out.
Other than that, its an album for enjoyers of deep, minimal electronic music.
NTO - Naked (7/10)
Every song was a bit of a hit or miss. Some were incredible (like “I cared for you” and “viento”) while some were just boring.
There’s this sense of disconnection to the whole thing, but maybe there’s something I missed.
It’s a great house album don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t do much to really stand out to other things that have come out this year.
Alright, thats it for the reviews. Here’s the rest.
Njoy.
