🍱 Delicacy of the Day
Skeler - Wundenlecken
These weeks just seem to be getting crazier as we head towards the “cooldown period” of the year.
I don’t know about you, but this has been the fastest year ever. I swear I blink and its like… Sunday.
So I’ve kinda been trying to listen to more “slow songs” on the weekend to make it last just a bit longer.
(And faster songs during the day job to make it go faster, lol)
In any case, today I got something from Abnormal Australian Skeler.
Its very curious how these “dead genres” have come to the surface recently. Who would have guessed visiting graves results in listening to the stories told in them?
This is a beautiful and reflective song. Has some of those good ol “sad undertones” to it that
Like yesterday’s song, it has a bit more of that “beat” vibe to it even though its fully electronic.
More of that “endless versatilty” exclusive to this genre lol.
This one features a gorgeous array of synths over various pianos, trumpets and choirs.
It’s one of those that give you this sense of “reflection” after a long battle.
…Which you know, is the title.
“Wundenlecken” is German for “to lick ones wounds.”
You can certainly hear that in this song, which I absolutely love.
May this song help you find the peace for this Sunday and give you strength for the upcoming week.
Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel
I know this is a music newsletter and in some small way, an escape to crazy world out there.
If you’d like to ignore the following ramble about AI don’t forget to listen to today’s song on the way out.
The search for certainty has left with even more uncertainty.
I’ve been reading and watching a lot about AI trying to “understand the future”.
It seems like a generational change is happening right in front of our eyes.
2027 is right around the corner and it just seems to get… weirder every year.
There’s this odd thing where everyone out there seems “unaware” of whats going on while everyone online is freaking out.
We are barreling towards a future where no one (not even the mystical machine) can predict.
On one hand there’s the people who say “Oh everything will be much better! There’s going to be so much progress and evolution! Jobs? Yeah we'll just get rid of all of them!!!”
While the other camp says other stuff like “Yeah this thing we’re staking the global economy on will kinda collapse. Its not sustainable and its only a matter of time. Jobs? Yeah they’re done for.”
There’s this quote by economist Deirdre N. McCloskey that’s been etched to my soul ever since I heard it.
“For reasons I have never understood, people like to hear that the world is going to hell”
We might be in the cusp of the most turbulent times of “recent history”
It’s nothing as major as the constant wars that riddled humanity until recently.
But it's a different kind of struggle, one that deals with identity, economics, and purpose.
For most its already been a pretty concerning time. There are no answers. Everyone is kinda saying “we don’t know, but soon you’ll have no problems because ????”
Unfortunately, this is more of a “brain dump” than a “hey here’s a solution!” type of email.
The best thing I’ve heard (and have started to apply) is “focus more on who you are than what you do”
We tend to become our work.
Not that it’s a bad thing, but in a world that increasingly threatens it, focusing more on “character,” “taste,” and “judgement” seems to be the new “hip” traits.
So hold on strong, despite all the negative stuff, I do believe that everything works out for good in a long enough time frame.
Need evidence?
Just look around.
It’s been the most peaceful and wealthy era in the history of humankind. yes, even with everything going on.
So things won’t ever be 100% right, but even 80% is pretty good.
You got this.
Always Forward
