🍱 Delicacy of the Day
X Club - You’re On My Mind All Day.
This song has one of the most unexplainable feelings in electronic music.
This is one of those songs that for whatever reason sound like exploring the world.
Everything from the tempo, the drums, and the incredible synths put you in a different mind state.
Of course, who else but Abnormal Australian duo X Club to instill this feeling.
They are experts at rhythm and simplicity.
Most of their songs are masterpieces even though they are simple on principle.
If you haven’t been introduced to X Club, that changes today.
Let this song inspire you to see more of the world. It truly is beautiful out there.
Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel
For the next 35 days I’ll be exploring the ridiculous trip from last year
I didn’t have time to write it when it happened. So why not take advantage of Nostalgia Year to re-live some memories, eh?
If you don’t mind or care (no blame there), enjoy the hand-picked songs that made up this trip a lot more special. They’re even better than the amazing stuff we regularly send.
I waited a whole 402 days for this moment.
Things that never really left my mind that I had to do.
And today it was a race to get all of them done.
Let’s begin.
Road to Osaka
The road there felt nostalgic as I had been there a year ago.
Its still amazing how picturesque the trains rides are
…and how easily I tend to get lost.
Regardless, I made it at a reasonable time.
Tsumiyoshi Taisha Shrine
I had been there last year but I still wanted to revisit it.
Still one of the most amazing shrines. The bridge is iconic and visiting it while NOT sick with tuberculosis made all the difference.

Definitely a must go if you’re in Osaka.
Shopping at Osaka station
Osaka is amazing for 2 things:
Eating
Shopping.
Especially when the main train station has all the essentials.
I stopped at the Pokémon and Nintendo Center.
The Pokémon Center took a good 30 minutes to get out of because of how popular the place is.
The Nintendo Center was empty-ish, lol.
It’s also impressive how fast money dissapears in malls like these.
Regardless, after doing shopping for a couple of people that requested it I had to get moving.
Tsutenkaku
You already know:
Another Day Another Tower!

This whole area feels stuck in time but not in a cringe way.
The inside of the tower feels like its stuck in the 90s and yet it was still timeless.
The line to get in was bonkers and I’m honestly impressed at how much activities are packed into this seemingly small tower.
Here are some sights.

I waited a year for this view…

There was this activity where you collected a bunch of silly stamps from all over the tower.
…which I promptly did.
Another crazy thing about this tower is that you are constantly entering stores.
From the moment you step in to the moment you exit, you keep getting into stores, enticing you to buy something.
…which I did.
I am the perfect tourist. Even when it’s an obvious trap I fall for it.
Explore around the area
This whole day was just a nostalgia trip.
I checked out some stores trying to find a game while also getting a kebab and one of those Turkish ice creams.
Pretty good!
Didn’t really see much of anything, but before I knew it it was time to head to the next destination.
Abeno Harukas
Say it with me:
Another HOUR Another Tower!
This had been on my mind since last year. It’s my favorite tower and this second visit solidified it.

Last year that I came here I missed the chance to do the helipad tour.
Not this time!

I dont think I’ve seen a non cloudy sunset thus far lmao.
10/10. Worth the wait.
Here are some more pictures.

It felt amazing to be back.
While exploring I saw a lot of fireworks in the distance on what looked like Kyoto.
It was interesting but didn’t think much of it.
I was getting hungry at this point so it was time to head to the final destination.
Dotonbori
This sight never gets old.

The mission was simple: Find a baller place to eat!
…Except I got there kinda late and most things were closing.
To make matters worse I only had an hour before the last train to Kyoto departed.
Yeah. This whole thing was starting to fall apart.
So after searching 10 minutes for an open place I found this restaurant in the middle of an alleyway.
Except I only found it after a rat ran out and revealed the location.

Its in the trashbag.
…Well, if the rat is eating good might as well see what it’s all about!

It was better than it looks.
After wolfing it down I rushed to Osaka station to get on the last train to paradise.
Except…
Lost in Osaka.
So after such a crazy day of constant phone use…
THE MAIN PHONE AND PORTABLE BATTERY WAS DEAD.
And so started the whole dance to find my way home using the signalless music phone.
By this point I knew that the play was starting to talk to random people.
Problem: I didn’t see a single foreigner, and not all Japanese people speak English.
Couldn’t even use Google Translate since the music phone didn’t have any data.
Thankfully a single and genuine “nice shirt” compliment got me into a conversation with this engineer guy that was visiting his girlfriend in Osaka.
We somehow ended up on the same train bound for Osaka Station.
I figured it was fate and popped the question after 5 minutes of talking:
“Hey man, I know we just met but can I ask you for a favor?”
“Yeah sure, what’s up?”
“Could you share some data so I can get home?”
He looked confused. Then realized it wasn’t worth asking further and helped me out.
We had just enough time for GOOGLE CRAPS to load the route home before it was time for him to get off the train.
We wished each other luck and I managed to make it home after almost missing the last train (and bus) home.
Final thoughts.
Writing these emails I realize how insane it is to have made it this long.
While some of these stories might be SLIGHLTY exaggerated and shortened for email purposes, the experiences were all real.
I joked around with some friends and family that I was going to leave my phone at the airbnb one day and try to make it without a phone.
Well, joke enough about something and watch it come true.
Regardless, these experiences were evidence that people aren’t all that bad and that most people are willing to help if you ask.
That said…
I really have to stop buying crappy phones to travel with, lmao.
Always having Osaka on my mind Forward
