🍱 Delicacy of the Day

Alright, this is the first relaxing song of the week.

Fitting for a slow Sunday after a really fast week.

This song was part of an experimental album from Canadian Cretin duo Zeds Dead.

Nothing short of a masterpiece, of course.

It’s a lot more “ambiental” and “minimal,” but it makes for an incredibly relaxing song.

Another one of those songs that “demonstrate” the title by sounding exactly like it.

In this case, this sounds like a sunrise. Seeing the beginning of the day, seeing lights from houses turn on as people get ready and the street lights turn off.

It’s a magical and relaxing experience in audible form.

I recommend the whole album for days when you need something to take the edge off.

The whole thing is a masterclass on relaxing electronic music.

This is a great introduction.

Njoy.

💭 Quick Drivel

For the next 16 days I’ll be exploring the ridiculous trip from last year

I didn’t have time to write it when it happened. So why not take advantage of Nostalgia Year to re-live some memories, eh?

If you don’t mind or care (no blame there), enjoy the hand-picked songs that made up this trip a lot more special. They’re even better than the amazing stuff we regularly send.

4am.

Hours of sleep: 5

Body: feels like hell

It's my third day in Thailand. I've slept like crap for the past 35 days.

But, I have a mission.

When I tried yesterday, I went to the completely wrong place.

So this was my second and last attempt.

Now before I continue it's important to share something

The only reason I came to Thailand was to do this.

Unfortunately, I'm not the biggest fan of lady boys. Only really saw one, and it was a waiter.

Instead, it’s to turn something into reality, and because I believed a lie.

Turn what into reality?

It came up while I was planning the trip and the only neuron alive said:

"Hey, what if I just... go see that!"

And that single thought added 3 more days to what would have been a 3 week trip lol.

The second part is the lie.

Now this was all the way back in the Front Desk arc (real OGs will remember).

I told this ultra-rich world traveler guy about the plan and he said, "This whole trip is a retarded idea. But you should go to Thailand! It’s mad cheap.”

These 2 things happened on the same day, so the ultra-rich guy reinforced the song idea shortly after it came to mind.

Well, in this trip I learned 2 things

  1. The direction in which the sun rises

  2. That Thailand AIN’T CHEAP.

And that brings me to ending up in this SECLUDED COAST.

The Uber was puzzled when he dropped me off. I don’t blame him lol.

There were fishermen doing some early morning fishing (or picking up metal scraps from the sea, no clue)

There was little to no light pollution. The stars looked insane.

And so I sat down and waited for the following to unfold...

Highly recommend recreating song titles in your life.

After such a beautiful display, I made it back to the hotel to take a quick nap before the next destination.

  1. Day plans gone.

I had planned to go to Koh Samui island, but I was feeling incredibly sick, so I ended up not going (and losing a couple hundred bucks. The “until the wheels come off” philosophy is starting to fail at this point.)

Instead, I slept a bit longer.

After that, I talked to the front desk friend again

"Hey so what's another cool thing to do around here? I really loved the temple, lookout and restaurant."

"Hello again! Glad to hear that. Well, There’s also Wat Chalong, another great restaurant with a beach view, and i’m gonna let you in on a secret viewpoint spot locals love"

Sometimes it’s that simple huh.

  1. Wat Chalong Temple.

Yeah this temple was. INSANE both inside and outside.

The interiors are also no joke, they have marble and gold and look much fancier than the temples in Japan, Korea or China.

Im also going to count it so say it with me

Another day

Another... Palace?

Yeah this was at the top of this part of the temple:

  1. Secret Lookout

ANOTHER HOUR, ANOTHER LOOKOUT.

Unfortunately it was another cloudy sunset!

However everything else was beautiful.

This was clearly a local's spot, as I saw maybe one other tourist there.

It seemed like the best last view of Thailand, it's definitely picturesque and all the nature is stunning.

There's a really good mix of ocean, jungles, and mountains.

The Uber on the ride back thankfully didn't play tiktok compilations

However, there was one place I had to go Check out.

  1. Patong street.

Yeah, I had to see what I was "missing out" on.

Which wasn't much, as there was a weed-mixed-with-piss smell the second I got out of the car.

It was also incredibly loud. (Unsurprising considering it's full of bars and clubs)

Making eye contact with anyone equals them going to you to sell you one of these things:

  1. Weed (the best one was "chunky monkey" edibles)

  2. Shoot guns (cheaper than the US I'll give them that)

  3. A ping-pong show (whatever that is, but something tells me it isn't the sport)

  4. Drinks

And if it's by a massage place? People WILL try to grab your arm to sell you on a massage.

Some dude even tried selling me "real Rolex" for $60.

I rushed to get the hell out of there.

But not before fulfilling my duty as an American’t.

  1. McDonalds

You already know. It had to be done.

There were some interesting items like the McSpicy (was NOT “white people okay”).

It was alright, better than Korea’s McDonlads for sure

Since I was at the hotel at that point (even the McDonald's was blasting music) it was time to sleep shortly after.

Except the time until the wake-up alarm was a sweet.

4 hours

Yeah, tomorrow's flight leaves at 8am and its an hour ride to the airport.

No biggie, after all, we're going till the wheels come off.

Always turning songs into reality Forward

P.S. TRIP SCORE: (29 days)
